Iftikar Karim – ASAN Research Manager
Iftikar has been associated with ASAN since 1998 and jointly established ASAN’s consultancy service with Mike Swain in 2000. Since then he has served ASAN as Associate Research Manager and has managed the delivery of all of ASAN’s consultancy commissions. He has been involved in the successful delivery of a wide range of consultancy projects at ASAN for clients such as WVSC, BVSC, Wolverhampton City Council and various development trusts and regeneration programmes.
Iftikar specialises in helping social enterprises develop economically focussed projects. He has a wealth of experience in developing community assets, having played a major part in ASAN’s development of The Workspace. Iftikar has presented at various seminars and conferences on how Third Sector organisations can equip themselves to engage with asset based development and how they can seek to understand the social value that they create through their work. His skills also extend to community development and consultation.
Associates
Vincent Bailey
Vincent has a background in community consultancy. He has worked on a variety of projects including housing needs surveys and convening community forums. Vince has high levels of expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis and is an expert in participatory appraisals.
Ranjit Bansal
Ranjit is a marketing professional who has worked at the heart of the social enterprise sector in the West Midlands for 15 years. She was the marketing manager at Social Enterprise West Midlands, leading a range of high-level creative marketing and communication campaigns to raise the profile and understanding of social enterprise. She supported the organisation’s transition from a publicly funded project to an independent social enterprise. In 2011 Ranjit co-founded DYNAMIC marketing, a specialist marketing service for social enterprises, charities and voluntary organisations.
Richard Boothroyd
Richard has over 25 years of working with third sector organisations during employment in the Youth and Community Service of Walsall MBC, the Community Education Service of Derbyshire County Council and subsequently as a Community Development and Research Consultant. He has knowledge and experience of managing stakeholder consultations and feeding back conclusions via reports and presentations. Richard has developed particular expertise in delivering business planning and project evaluation services to BME organisations.
David Lane
David is a SFEDI qualified social enterprise adviser with over 25 years’ experience developing community initiatives and enterprises. David worked as a senior manager for a large charity (St. Paul’s Community Development Trust) for over 15 years running large scale employment training programmes. He moved on to the position of Deputy and Operations Manager at the Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs where he led a team of business advisers for over three years. David is the founder and executive director for Development in Social Enterprise
Peter Smith
Peter has over 45 years working in the third sector with community activists, groups and networks, both as a professional worker and a volunteer. He has a track record in the management and development of community projects and networks together. He has supported organisations with achieving quality standards and funding bids as well as providing facilitation services. Peter is a qualified PQASSO practitioner.
Sean Smith
Sean has a wealth of experience within training, project management and social enterprise. He was a further education college lecturer with international projects management responsibilities. This included obtaining funding from UK and Europe to run projects in the UK and internationally. Sean delivers training to a diverse range of organisations on business planning and organisational development. He is an approved Social Auditor for the Social Audit Network and has a wealth of experience delivering training on measuring social value.
Backroom staff
